Relevance of Google Penguin Update
Google announced a Penguin update in April 2012 and overwhelmed the entire digital world. The key objective of this update is to catch and eliminate span-driven sites, specially those which engage in purchasing bot links to enhance their search engine ranks.
With this new Penguin update, Google will be able to remove sites with poor links from the search engine results. It will also make space for quality sites (which it previously missed) to get decent ranks and dominate the search result pages.
